A BIT ABOUT US
Our federal tax identification is 22-3245826
Our mission is to provide annual scholarships to our, Latino and/or students of Hispanic ancestry background, who are graduating from each of the Lynn high schools. The recipients are chosen based upon academic achievement, personal strengths, community service participation, and financial need. Over the years we have actualized awards for many students who we believe are first time college goers in their families. We believe that our scholarship encourages and motivates award recipients to continue their education, and provides additional monetary support when students go to their perspective colleges and universities. We also encourage our students to come back to the Lynn community when they finish their education, as it is important to volunteer and give back to the community that was so supportive to them.
LYNN HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
ABOUT
A brief description of how our organization operates dates back to when the organization was formed. In 1991 the LHSF was established by a group of volunteer Latino community members who wanted to assist Lynn Hispanic/Latino high school graduates in order to provide them with assistance that would support their transition to college. In 1992 LHSF was incorporated as a Massachusetts non-profit organization. Over the last 27 years, the LHSF has been celebrating and awarding over 300 students funds to Lynn High School graduates, a majority of which are first time college goers. Every year our selection committee awards 12 or 13 students with scholarships amount of $1,000 to $2,500 to help them to pursue higher education. This means that over the last 27 years we have awarded nearly $300,000.00 in funds to well-deserved award recipients, who at times come from homes with limited incomes.
ACTIVITIES
Making A Difference
Our board continues to consist of volunteer members who meet monthly to coordinate fundraising and allocating funding opportunities, as we could not exist without the financial support of our community organizations and attendees to our annual awards night. We celebrate our award recipient’s efforts, and at the same time, we fundraise to assist to continue with our yearly mission.
